AFI Audience Award winner and Official Selection of the SXSW Film Festival, Kris Avedisian's DONALD CRIED expertly deconstructs the contemporary obsession with the "man-child" in this dark comedy that follows childhood best friends Peter (Jesse Wakeman) and Donald (Avedisian) who reconnect decades later in their working-class Rhode Island neighborhood. Peter left his childhood home to reinvent himself as a slick, Wall Street mover and shaker. When he returns home to bury his grandmother, he loses his wallet and ends up stranded and broke, and turns to Donald for help. What starts as a simple favor turns into an unhinged van ride into their past. Painfully awkward moments and increasingly bizarre – and dangerous – hijinks ensue, as the friends rediscover their stifled aggression and teenaged rebelliousness.
