Village East Cinema: Q&A Friday 4/5 with Emilio Estevez - showtime TBD
From director/writer Emilio Estevez, THE PUBLIC is set amid the backdrop of a bitter cold Cincinnati winter, where the public library has become a refuge for its homeless patrons. At odds with library officials, the patrons turn the building into a shelter for the night by staging a sit in. What begins as an act of civil disobedience becomes a stand off with police and a rush-to-judgment media conspiracy constantly speculating about what's really happening inside the library. This David versus Goliath story tackles some of our nation's most challenging issues and sets the drama inside one of the last bastions of democracy-in-action: your public library.
